<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><rss version="2.0"><channel><title>Oktal - News</title><link>http://www.oktal.fr</link><description>Oktal News</description><item><title>OKTAL is going to set up one of the greatest worldwide motor car driving simulators in China.</title><link>http://www.oktal.fr/index.php?Lang=en&amp;Page=NewsPress&amp;Id=165</link><pubDate>Fri, 04 Jun 2010 00:00:00 GMT</pubDate><description><![CDATA[<img style="float:left;margin:0px 10px 10px 10px;" src="http://www.oktal.fr/Upload/News/Miniature/OKTAL driving simulator-3_Miniature.JPG"/>]]>Resulting from a contract signed in 2009 further to an international call for tender, this motor car driving simulator will be used for the studies led by the department &amp;quot; Transport and Facilities &amp;quot;&amp;nbsp;at Tongji University, one of the oldest and most prestigious higher education and research Chinese institutions. &lt;p&gt;In the Top 3 at the world level, the objective of this driving simulator is to study drivers' reaction under complicated driving conditions as well as to estimate drivers' psychology and behaviour in reaction to new road facilities features, driving circumstances and system man-machine interfaces.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This giant simulator&amp;nbsp;is composed of a dome made in composite structure, a movement system of 8 degrees of freedom (8 DoF), a complete car and a display system allowing a big field of vision (more than 250 &amp;deg;). It&amp;nbsp;exploits the last version of SCANeR &lt;sup&gt;TM&lt;/sup&gt; studio software.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The system is under integration only with its dynamic platform 6DoF in OKTAL factory in Toulouse until the middle of June 2010. Then it will be dismantled and sent in China for the final integration with the complete dynamic platform (8DoF). This contract is the most important one regarding the number of units ever purchased by SNCF.&lt;br /&gt;These simulators will be based on the latest generation of OKTAL small range driver training simulator and will be constituted by a simplified dash board and three monitors for 3D viewing and virtual instrumentation.&lt;br /&gt;Based on the latest version of OKSimRail&lt;sup&gt;TM&lt;/sup&gt; software they will enable SNCF to provide their drivers with high level training courses for safe and efficient operation.&lt;br /&gt;The simulators will be commissioned in 30 training centers in France.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fabrice CARLIER, Head of driving simulator purchasing at SNCF said &amp;laquo; We chose OKTAL due to innovation and relevance of its solution in addition to its raisonnable price.&lt;br /&gt;This is a major project for SNCF because it will enable us to start continual vocational and skill enhancement training of more than 15300 drivers.
